About Kirk
Kirk was born in New Orleans, LA, but has called Lafayette, LA his home since he was very young. He began his career as an Emergency Department Registered Nurse at University Medical Center (now University Health Center) after graduating with his Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL). After working two years as a Registered Nurse, he felt he needed more of a challenge so he decided to return to ULL to pursue his Master’s Degree as an Adult Health Nurse Practitioner.
Upon graduation, he continued his work at University Medical Center in the Emergency Department Walk-in Clinic in his new role as Nurse Practitioner. After gaining valuable experience there, he transitioned to Regional Medical Center (now Lafayette General Orthopedic Hospital) Emergency Department. After the birth of his daughter, he decided to hang up the ER scrubs for work at a slower pace to spend more time with his family. He took a position at Acadiana Center for Orthopedic and Occupational Medicine to establish and run their newly added Walk-in Clinic where he spent the next six years.
As a highly accomplished Nurse Practitioner, Kirk Knecht brings extensive
